The traditional model for remote access was to use a VPN and allow your remote users full access to your corporate network. This worked fine when remote working was occasional, for a limited number of people and was accessed via a company laptop.

As we’ve mentioned on previous Replify blogs, more people are working from home than ever before which has resulted in organisations having to review their network infrastructure.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, many users have made the shift to working remotely on a semi-permanent basis, often using their own devices. This means that the VPN can become both a drain on resources and a huge security risk.

This has accelerated the adoption of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) , often as part of a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution. ZTNA allows you to grant access to specific resources to individual users. This means for example that you don’t have to open up your entire corporate network to someone who just needs to lookup a colleague on the internal phone directory.

Does Replify Accelerator work with ZTNA solutions?

The short answer is “Yes”. We’ve recently worked with a few customers who have adopted the ZScaler Private Access (ZPA) product in order to get the advantages of ZTNA. In one customer’s case, their existing WAN optimization solution stopped working as a result of this.

This customer was able to install Replify Accelerator into the ZPA environment without any hassle. They then had optimization between their cloud services and the devices running the ZScaler Client Connector.

Considering this ease of setup, it is well worth including WAN Optimization as a consideration for your SASE deployment. It really can make the change less painful for remote users. Particularly for those who have a poor internet connection.
